About Us

Every Record Tells a Story

Records Redone began the way many meaningful things do, with a simple favor for a friend.

In 2012, Michael was asked to create a handmade gift. Not something pulled from a store shelf, but something personal. Around the same time, he had been experimenting with an old vinyl record and a simple cutting tool, shaping music into something new.

He did not know if it would work.

But when he handed the finished piece to his friend and saw their reaction, everything changed. What they were holding was no longer just a record.

It was a special memory made visible.

That moment became the beginning of Records Redone.

What started as one handmade gift soon turned into Michael and his wife Ashley spending time creating pieces together. They carefully cut real vinyl records into skyline silhouettes and can create custom labels and use original albums inspired by music, places, and personal stories. Each record signifying a history waiting to be rediscovered.

They quickly realized people were not simply decorating their homes. They were choosing reminders of where they came from, who they loved, and moments they wanted to never forget.

A hometown skyline became a housewarming gift. A favorite record label marked an anniversary. A record of a couples’ song cut into the city they share became a wedding present that said more than words could express.

Today, every Records Redone piece is still individually made in our Michigan workshop. There is no assembly line or mass production. Just two people who genuinely love what they do, transforming forgotten records into artwork that celebrates life’s meaningful moments.

When someone chooses a Records Redone piece, they are inviting us into a small part of their life and story. We have helped celebrate proposals, anniversaries, graduations, new homes, and countless everyday moments that deserve a special way of being remembered.

Vinyl has always been more than music. It is emotion. It is nostalgia. It is the soundtrack and stories of people’s lives.

Giving a record a second life does not erase its past. It adds to it.

At its heart, Records Redone is about connection. To music, to memories, and to each other.

Every record tells a story. We are happy to help tell yours.

Even Better in Person

"I got this vinyl for a friend who is a Chicago native, and I am absolutely floored with how well it turned out ... It somehow looks even better in person ... It even came in your standard record sleeve, which gave it even more of a premium feel."
